Coombe, Presteigne by J. M. Ince - 1861

Local history rooms - Three exhibition rooms complement the house. ‘Neither Wales Nor England’ tells the story of the Radnor Borders region and leads you through the history, archaeology, landscape and nature of one of the most gloriously untouched areas of Britain.

“No man ought to be in government of this land who does not spend at least three months of every year in country such as this” - George Bernard Shaw on Radnorshire.

There are also two rooms dedicated to Presteigne with a substantial collection of photos, clothes, tools, toys, war memorabilia and commercial items from the town’s past - all donated by those that live or lived in the area.

The watercolour above is of the village of Coombe, and was painted in 1851 by Presteigne artist J. M. Ince.
