Victorian Servant's Hall

Servants’ Hall - Used as a common room by the servants, this dingy but cosy room is lit by open flame gaslights. Installed originally in 1860, the gas was only put into the ‘below stairs’ areas, to test its usefulness and safety on the servants! Homely delights such as a sock-making machine, magic lantern (Victorian slide projector) and knife cleaners can be discovered.
